It was in 2005 that Iain Baxter that he officially changed his name to IAIN BAXTER&. You might think that this is strange. After all it isn’t every day that a person legally amends his name to include a symbol at the end. But BAXTER& is an artist that believes that art is all inclusive and takes connectivity and collaboration with many different people and viewers – hence the name change. This is a man that believes in his art and his purpose in life. No wonder the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago chose him for a special exhibition.
The exhibition is of works across a wide span of time in BAXTER&’s life. His art, like his name, strives to cross and eliminate boundaries, bringing people and different artistic mediums, and commerce closer together. This exhibit gives the due respect to so esteemed of an artist. Fifty years of dedication to BAXTER&’s cause is duly celebrated by the Museum of Contemporary Art. His belief in crossing boundaries means that BAXTER&’s art is very widely varied. The BAXTER& exhibit includes such artistic themes as installations to photography to conceptual art. BAXTER& effected every kind of art as well as the art world at large.
The wide range artistic mediums that BAXTER& worked with as well as the open and all inclusive manner of his artistic ideas make for a fantastic exhibit that everyone can appreciate. BAXTER& is all about people, ideas, and different aspects of the world and life coming together, meeting and growing. This modern artist is someone that will be remembered not only for the incredible pieces that he creates but for trying to incorporate so many other phenomena with art such as common events, trade and other world happenings.
